06 Jun June 7th Weekly Devotional
I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Eph 4:1-3
It’s camp week, starting tomorrow afternoon. 80 plus young people will come together for an entire week of being together and worshiping and studying about God, and His perfect Son Jesus Christ. Pray for them, and pray for the counselors who will minister to them.
Our theme is “In Need”, by Praise and Harmony and the sermons, lessons, bible classes, and worship will be geared toward the verses of that song. The song teaches of God’s mercy, grace and love by sending His Son, Christ Jesus, the perfect lamb to be our refuge, our Savior.
In the song, we sing to God our need for His strength, His peace, and all the things that only He can give to us. We are humbly putting ourselves in His more than capable hands, to take care of us, and save us from a condemned world of sin.
We are IN NEED of Him.
We are IN NEED of each other also. Without each other, we are not the church that He came and died for and gave Himself for in the first place. If we are not walking in unity, as He desires for us to be doing while here on earth, preparing ourselves to be that perfect Bride of Christ, then all He did was in vain.
I must walk worthy of the calling with which I was called. We must ALL walk worthy of the calling with which we were called, and this is how we are going to do it:
With lowliness, humility. With gentleness and with longsuffering, patience. Bearing with one another, being tolerant of one another, getting along with one another, with LOVE. Endeavoring, being diligent to keep, to preserve the UNITY of the Spirit in the bond of peace. We are IN NEED of one another but we are in need of one another in the relationship that God has designed for us that we only obtain by having that relationship with His Son, Jesus.
Because, verse 4-6, There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
They are One. We are One. We are all ONE. We are In Need.
Pray for His Mission. Pray for His Work. Pray that we are walking worthy of His calling, and pray for yourselves as well. Pray for all of His disciples, everyday. Don’t just pray though, but also, DO.
So in this busy week, let’s all work on walking worthy of the calling with which we were called.
